WELCOME to Morganton's 12th Annual HOP (Help Our Project) 10k, 5k and 1 mile Family fun run, hosted by and benefiting the projects of the Morganton Service League(MSL).  In past years, our proceeds have contributed to the major renovation of Martha’s Park, an innovative play set in Freedom Park and the “Adventure Playground” in Catawba Meadows Park. Our latest addition just completed this past summer is located at the soccer complex at Catawba Meadows.  We look forward to creating another addition with the matched contribuition from Morganton Parks and Recreation Foundation! WHO: This year’s Title Sponsor is: Blue Ridge Health Care!!

WHAT: 12th Annual HOP Race 5k, 10k and 1 mile family fun run/walk. Water, chocolate milk, fruit, homemade granola, cookies and Subs from SUBWAY and empandas from Mountain Burrito are provided to all participants after the race. Water stations are provided along the route. Many door prizes given out during the awards presentation.

WHERE: Downtown Morganton, NC. The race begins and ends at Martha’s Park, 200 Collett St.

WHEN: The first Saturday of October, 10/05/2013 the 5k and 10k begin at 8:45am.

             1 mile fun run/walk begins at 8am. Registration opens at 7:15 am.

HOW: The race is put on by many volunteers from the Morganton Service League and many generous, local sponsors. The local high school key and anchor clubs also send volunteers to help along the race course providing mile splits and enthusiastic cheering. To enter, print out a copy of the race registration and mail it to the address provided or register online.  NEW THIS YEAR: The course is certified and Chip Timed by Lee Timing.

WHY: To raise money for projects of the Morganton Service League. Our proceeds have benefited the parks of Burke County for the past 10 years and will do so again this year, adding another playset to the Catawba Soccer & Lacrosse Complex. In the future, the race will benefit other community projects of the MSL. Donations are collected on race day to benefit a local charity. This year we are collecting non-perishable food items & new or gently used blankets to donate to Burke United Christian Ministries. Every item donated will be an entry into a raffle for a Henredon Furniture piece. The raffle will take place at the end of the awards presentation and you must be present to win.

AWARDS: 5k & 10k: TOP 3 male and female finishers and top masters male and female receive awards. Medals are

given to top 3 male and female in each category:

10 and Under, 10-11, 12-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75 and over

Awards will not duplicate overall winners.
All Family Fun Run/Walk participants receive a ribbon.
Awards must be picked up Race Day.
